Taqueria Orinoco: Taco Sale Prediction

Taqueria Orinoco, is restaurant chain with presence in several Mexican cities and dedicated to the sale of Tacos. It is a company that, at first glance, looks like a simple business but in reality it involves complex planning, operation, training and service processes that are required in order to comply with its brand values: “Hygiene, Quality and Excellent Service.”

As Taqueria Orinoco has been expanding as a business, it has started with business strategy formalization processes and one of them is raw materials procurement. Our work has consisted in developing an automated data extraction system that feeds a machine learning model allowing us to predict the future sales of each of the branches with an Mean Absolute Percentage Error of 10% even for branches with less than 1 year of operation.

The deliverable for this project consisted in a system that generates a prediction for each of the ingredients to be consumed by the daily sale on days to come from each of the restaurant chain branches. This report comes from a custom developed system that is responsible for:

Continuously extracting sales data from each of the branches
Running automated machine learning models
Analyzing trends for each of the restaurant branches.

Our system will allow Taqueria Orinoco to reduce raw material purchasing errors, allowing the business to lower its operating costs.
